What is bartering? Bartering is directly trading goods, skills and/or services with others.
Why barter? It's an alternative to using currency -- which allows us to get what we want or need even when money is tight. And it helps us get what we need locally -- by connecting with people in our community.
Step 1 - Everyone has something to share. So what do I have & what do I want to trade?
Step 2 - Wants (and needs, too!) Who wants what I have and who has what I want?
- Denver Metro Community Exchange on Facebook & TimeBanks.org
- Search Barter under the For Sale tab at Craigslist.org
Step 3 - Just ask "Would you be interested in bartering for this?"
If both parties agree, continue! If "no", reevaluate steps 1 & 2, and try again.
Step 4 - Get specific: Iron out the details so each swapper feels like they've won!
- When are we trading?
(If trade is ongoing, i.e. lessons, services, etc,: How frequently are we trading?)
Step 5 - Go for it: Swap!
